P1114877Our first stop in Laos was a bungalow on the four thousand islands, where we recovered from Cambodia and made plans for the next four weeks. Our way lead us along the Mekong river to northern Laos.

In Luang Praban we enjoyed ourself. Herbal saunas, vegetarian buffets and shopping at the night market let the time flying. One of the best leaving from the French colonialisation was the Baguette, so we get at the street every morning for breakfast a thick sandwich with egg, salad, cucumbers and diverse sauces and a great cup of tea or coffee.

P2035072Like many times before we had the desire to go after days in citys out to the nature. We trekked for three days through villages from different hill tribes like the Hmong or Khamu. The villages had no electricity or flowing water and in the morning at least one cock was waking us. The most cute were the many little pigs which were walking around in the villages. We were also impressed about the knowledge from our guide which was showing us for what they are using all the different plants and trees. For example against diarrhoea you can chew a piece of a limb or if you have virility problems cook a special root and eat it.

At the end we would like to say that we felt very comfortable in Laos and we appreciated the shy but friendly character of of the Lao people. No we know why they call their country "Jewel of the Mekong".

The actual intermediate result of the Yatzy championship.
