Now it was time to discover the land of Djingis Khan by ourselves. We started in direction to Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur national park. Where a real Mongolian adventure was waiting for us.

Joli and Strupi, two real balky but loyal and very kind Mongolian horses were joining us. Packaged with food for the next 10 days we started surrounding the lake Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur, an almost full with ice covered lake. Henceforth the days were affected from silence and enjoying the nature.

We crossed Yak herds, met prying nomads and let us ectsasize from the landscape. We slept in the tent, were cocking outdoor, were washing in the lake and doing our business behind the next stone. We felt unwatched as long as we figured out that every nomad has a binocular :o)

P5181589.JPGThe horses were responsible for carrying the backpackers and the food. But they were not always agree with that and so we used sometimes over 30 minutes to load them. Also on the way we had sometimes trouble when Joli and Strupi were standing still. Mostly talking calm to them and to fondle them was not really helpful. After a few days a nomad had pity with us and showed us the Mongolian way to force a horse to go. A clap on the behind and a loud TSCHU is moving every balky horse. Altogether we had a lot of fun with them and toke them on our heart!

The most exhausting was the weather, typically for the mountains it was changing in hours. The palette was from brooding heat to snow.

As we arrived save at the home of the horse owners, they prepared a feast for us. Here the preparation:

  • Take a goat
  • Kill it and take away the skin
  • Divide it
  • Take away all the inwards
  • Process the stuff to blood sausage, etc.
  • Cook altogether in a big bowl
  • Serve it as slaughtery plate to the guest

This and other goodies like Yak butter, Yak milk tea, Yak yogurt and Yak cheese we tried with great enthusiasm and without any shy.

The next 7 days we spent with cozy treks and a volcano climbing. But this time with the backpacks on our own back.

The actual intermediate result of the Yatzy championship.

Klingt gut! Sagt mal, war die Yak Butter gegoren? Hab mal gelesen, daß man im Himalya damit Buttertee macht. Klang ziemlich übel. Wenn sie GANZ alt ist, wird sie staubig
